Writers Boot Camp Screenwriting Career Q & A

December 17, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am CST

Writers Boot Camp Screenwriting Career Q & A

with Founder Jeffrey Gordon

Saturday, December 17, 10am-11:30am via Teleconference

Once you RSVP, we’ll email Teleconference instructions.

Join us for a Mini-Camp with Founder Jeffrey Gordon (JG) to address the numerous fallacies that even the most productive writers and aspiring artists tend to abide.  Together, we’ll bust a whole bunch of misguided notions about the screenwriting business. Instead of an event traditionally ending with Q & A, we’ll start the session with your questions.

For perspective, both the feature film business and the television business are challenging in ways that are not immediately apparent. In movies, there are many business models from micro-budget, low-budget, typical horror versus interesting indie, indie-produced studio acquisition, event studio film, high-budget independent, co-venture, and the studio rewriting and assignment game. And in TV, there are very distinct challenges that newer writers fail to anticipate when writing a TV pilot script, including the professional view of how networks approach material.

JG will also introduce Writers Boot Camp’s Career Progress Point System to rate your own industry progress as a writer. This topic will emphasize what it really takes to attract representation–and the topic will be helpful for actors and filmmakers participating.

Writers Boot Camp alumni in the last five years alone have written 75 movies that were produced. Dozens of others were staffed on or are running hit TV series. Plus, our alumni have more than 500 books and novels published–we’d like to translate that record of success to motivate your commitment to writing at a higher level.

If you do RSVP and find you cannot make it, please let us know in advance by calling the office at 310-998-1199 so we can make room for another writer or filmmaker.
